So the other day while Mom was out, I had to prepare lunch for when she got home. However I wasn’t entirely sure about the recipe so I called Mom to ask her about it. After explaining the recipe, she told me she had a present for me. It was a new bug! Two new bugs! One was a dragonfly (I already have a couple of dragonflies so it’s not quite as exciting), the other was a big, red, hairy ant. At least I think it’s an ant. I’m not really sure. I do know it’s fairly strong however. One day while I was standing near where I store the bugs I heard a weird sound, a kinda scratchy sound. I looked around to see what it was, maybe something in the laundry room or the garage, but no. It was the ant scratching the bag.
So I’m a little irritated at Finale right now (Finale is the music software that my family uses). It has been acting kinda weird and slow recently. It will occasionally stop playing part of the sound for no good reason and recently it has been exporting wave files incorrectly. Just today for no good reason it quite literally opened twenty help tabs. I don’t know what is wrong with it, it generally works really well. I must have accidentally hit a key board shortcut or something.
It’s always difficult to write a blog post on Monday. Mainly because my brain is flooded with the overwhelming fact that I have to do school again. Not to mention the fact that I still kinda sore from crawling around in the attic Friday and Saturday. But hey, that’s what I’m going to be doing today: school work. Oh, and practicing.
Recently I found some strange new plant species growing in the park. I am not sure what it is yet, but I am currently gathering data on it to try to ascertain it’s origin. It is a yellowish color, and has rigid, somewhat triangular shape. It’s possible it is the fruiting body of the plant, however I am afraid it might be a fungal parasite. If anyone one has any idea what this thing might be, please contact me immediately! I would definitely not want this unsightly plant spreading.
Hooray! Today is Mom and Dad’s anniversary! And I’m not just trying to be a jerk because it’s April fools day, it really is Mom and Dad’s anniversary. Today is the anniversary of when Mom and Dad met. I always celebrate Mom and Dad’s anniversaries with great enthusiasm, because if they had not met and been married I would not exist!
Recently I have started studying fencing (very casually), and I have found that none of the swords used in fencing are called rapiers. There are three different types of practice swords: the foil, the epee (seriously that’s its name), and the sabre. Who knew?
For as long as I can remember Nicholas has been really good at predicting movie lines. No really, I remember being really little and we were watching the animated “Sleeping Beauty”, and the narrator said, “And they called her Aurora”. Nicholas, who had been studying Latin at the time, said, “They named her after the dawn?!”. Right after the narrator said, as if answering Nicholas, “Yes, they named her after the dawn”. And just last night we were watching a movie and Nicholas predicted EXACTLY what they were going to say. I think this must be his superpower. It’s not a very useful power, but it’s still a superpower.
You know what I hate? When you’re trying to explain a math problem to someone and you’ve been trying for a really long time, and you almost think you’ve got it… And they still don’t understand you. I’m afraid this happens with Robert a lot. For some reason when Robert doesn’t understand something he has a hard time figuring it out.
Many of you probably know what writers block is like. You try to write something and the right words don’t come to mind, or you just can’t figure out what to write. This actually happens quite frequently with me (it makes writing a daily blog slightly harder), but I think helps if you start writing something easy, even it has nothing to do with what you are trying to do, or write. Then it becomes easier for me to write something else.
As I sit here writing this blog post, Anne just stands behind me. Why, what does she hope to gain. Is she just being creepy? Maybe she is trying to read the post before it is finished. Yes, that must be it. She pretends to be reading something else but I know what she is trying to do. I can’t let that happen! I won’t! But what should do? Maybe if I wait she will leave… A quick glance over my shoulder shows she is still there. Yeah right, just cause the bookcase is behind me people try to trick me into thinking they are reading. I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING DO YOU HEAR ME, I KNOW… What do you know she left. Maybe I was just being paranoid. Oh no, it’s Veronica. I KNOW she is trying to read the blog before it’s done. Sometimes, (much to my chagrin), she succeeds.
